Kindergarten to Year 6
English Tuition
During our English sessions at ARRENDELL Education, we ensure students in K-6 have the opportunity to respond to, and compose, a wide range of texts relevant to their stage of development. We achieve this through the close study of all text types, so that students develop knowledge, understanding and skills required to be a successful and independent learner, both now and in the future. Throughout each learning cycle, students are engaged in learning activities that ensure the student will develop skills required to:
-
communicate effectively through speaking, listening, reading and writing
-
use language to shape and make meaning according to purpose, audience and context
-
think in ways that are imaginative, creative, interpretive and critically express themselves and their relationships with others and their world
-
learn and reflect on their learning through their study of English
-
use knowledge of sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary to respond to and compose clear and cohesive texts spanning all genres.

Mathematic Tuition
The mathematical lessons we deliver, ensure that the students develop the basic knowledge that underpin all mathematical concepts. Tutors utilise concrete learning aids, games and positive reinforcement, to ensure all students achieve success and have fun.

Most importantly, at ARRENDELL, the tutors have the flexibility to make decisions about the sequence of learning, the pace of learning and the content, based on the needs of the students.

Maths Tuition for Primary Grades: Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6)
We continue to build on the mathematical skills already explored, whilst developing the students’ mental and written strategies, to assist with the ability to solve increasingly more complex problems.
Students are taught appropriate terminology to describe and link mathematical ideas, check statements for accuracy and explain their reasoning.

Most importantly, at ARRENDELL, the tutors have the flexibility to make decisions about the sequence of learning, the pace of learning and the content covered, based on the needs of all students. The main aim of our mathematical program, is to ensure students:
-
develop understanding and fluency in mathematics through inquiry, exploring and connecting mathematical concepts, choosing and applying problem-solving skills and mathematical techniques, communication and reasoning
-
develop efficient strategies for numerical calculation, recognise patterns, describe relationships and apply algebraic techniques and generalisation
-
identify, visualise and quantify measures and the attributes of shapes and objects, and explore measurement concepts and geometric relationships, applying formulas, strategies and geometric reasoning in the solution of problems
-
collect, represent, analyse, interpret and evaluate data, assign and use probabilities, and make sound judgements
-
learn the correct terminology to describe and link mathematical ideas, check statements for accuracy and explain their reasoning.

Individual Tuition for English or Mathematics
At times, a student may need specific assistance or extension that cannot be addressed appropriately in our small group settings. We are able to address this situation by providing individual tuition for students as required.
